OCC DAY 2

Well here it is Day 2 and I love what Shari Carroll shared about creating your own stamp out of a die. I knew what I wanted to do but wasn't sure how to lay it out till I saw this MUG
Then I knew. This card kit from Oct of 2014 is really getting a work out which is good because it means I am getting my monies worth. So many endless possibilities .. all you need is a little imagination and techniques from online card class. :D

So the middle cup is my foam stamp I made out of my die.

and the brown and green cups are the stamped images with memento ink bamboo and rich cocoa from the foam stamp. I made little tags and tied them on after I used lawn fawn Milo ABC stamps... these are great for creating your own sentiments or words.. and everything is all matchy matchy ... :D

here is the inside of my card which pretty much sums me up every morning... but I thought it would be a cute card to send to a friend who needs my ear.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enJOYed.

OCC DAY 1

Online Card class is underway again... those girls never cease to amaze me with their talent and inspiration. Here is a link if you would like to go check it out http://www.onlinecardclasses.com

Day 1 clean and simple heat embossing. I wanted to try  a technique by Julie Ebersole I just think she is so tallented and creative and she has a contagious laugh, here is a link to her blog if you would like to check her out http://papertrufflez.com
She did this tile effect with a die cut and some specialty paper which I did not have on hand.... so what do you do..... you use what you have on hand.

I love how it came out. In real life it is very shiny or as my hubby would say CH-I-N-E-Y
this die cut came in my very first simon says stamp card kit, I ever purchased in Oct of 2014. Still getting use out of it.. LOVE IT!  The sentiment that was in the stamp set for that card kit as well.

I am linking up at http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/simon-says-anything-goes-12/   and http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/blog/category/events/work-it-wednesday/    Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope you enJOY!

Week 2

This week at His Kingdom Come http://his-kingdom-come.com is 2 Corinthians 12:7-10
Verse 10 really struck me "That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weakness, in insults, in hardships, in difficulties. FOR WHEN I AM WEAK ,THEN I AM STRONG."

I picture the enemy of our life throwing all kinds of darts in our direction and if we let God, He makes them not hurt so bad. So I turned the darts into balloons. They still have what was intended but God makes it able to bear.
We just have to open ourselves up to the LORD and He will make us STRONG.
Hope you enJOY.

Soul man

Wednesday card challenge at Simon Says Stamps
here is the link
It's a guy thing.
In my era there was nothing more guy than the blues brothers
which is the inspiration for my card.
If you don't know who they are (LOL) here is a link

I used Tim Holtz mirrored paper
I have been on a kick with that lately. I have had it in my stash for a long time and now I am almost going to have to restock.. but that is a good thing.
I created the sentiment using Lawn Fawn's Milo;s ABC's
I love how they work. They are designed to align perfectly. Mine are a little crooked... but most
"SOUL MEN" are.

another thing in my stash is from Elizabeth craft designs DIES
called Props.. Derby hat and glasses which I love to make them mirror
Hope you enJOY!

Week 1
I am a little behind but all in God's timing right?
Romans 12:1-2
Each week we get a bible verse from His Kingdom Come http://his-kingdom-come.com
and then we do a bible study on our own and then create something. I have decided to do a journal. My journal title is Anchors aweigh which you can see in this link http://augustduce.blogspot.com/2015/01/gods-mysterious-ways.html
This is my first page based on Romans 12:1-2. I chose to focus on transformation. In this page I see myself as a sinful person which is what the black represents, and that little tiny heart (maybe a mustard seed size?) represents Christ. With Him in my heart my mind transforms into beautiful thoughts which is what the rainbow represents. Without HIM I could and would be very lonely. With Him ...my world is very colorful.

Hope you enJOY

Tim Holtz tags

I have been a busy girl on my day off yesterday and this morning. Creativity.... when it comes you just have to roll with it. So I have been a fan of Tim Holtz for a long time probable since He started in this business. I remember the first Brown line  (LOL) of distress INK . He has come a long way and I think he is here to stay. For the past 3 years I have wanted to play the tag of the month but something got in the way. This year is my year to play.... in many things.... and this is one of them.
I decided to create 2 tags because when you have all the good ink on your mat you don't want it to go to waste.
so here is #1

I used lots of techniques and products by layering them, and  I had so much fun, that here is tag #2

This one is a little lighter and  they are so different but using the same products.

Hope you enJOY

NBUS

NBUS.
Never before Used Schtuff.
Boy do I fall into this category.

I'll start with the schtuff I have had for a while and never used. That Mirrored sheet from Tim Holtz idea-ology. I don't know how long I have had it, but the dust blew off kinda easy. The sentiment and framed glasses are from Taylered expressions, there was no dust on those items because they were under other schtuff. I found all this recently because I have been purging and organizing. Great feeling but it really shows you how much you think you want things and get inspired and then "SQUIRREL" Oh what is that shiny thing... I think I want that.. Oh who just came out with a new release?? ... gotta check that out.

Stuff I had and do use is Adirondack ink. Love this stuff I inked it on velum paper and then die cut the glasses out of it. I then die cut the glasses out of the mirrored paper. I adhered the velum frame on top of the mirrored glasses so the lens would be mirror. I mounted the glasses on white card stock  then on top of glossy paper that I used the same inking technique I used on the glass frames. I stamped my sentiment, which I started singing that old song "my eyes adored you" by Frankie Valli   here is a link for your enjoyment just to get it in your head too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQjOT7PTzK4
I thought I would make this card for my adoring hubby. Valentines Day is coming up!

God's Mysterious Ways

I have been wanting to get into mixed media for a while. Every time I see post of some of the bogs I follow my blood starts pumping. So I started praying last year (2014) Give me on outlet of this LORD. Well he definitely did! I started the year of 2014 very sick. I was off work and the only thing I could do was surf the internet in between sleeping and resting. I came across the documented life project and was all gung ho but  never did anything with it on my own. But I followed it all year long yearning to participate. Well as 2014 was coming to a close I knew the stronger I grew the more I wanted to participate in something. So I prayed Lord lead me where you want to be. Take me where you want  me to be apart of. He lead to me to http://his-kingdom-come.com . I knew this was where I was supposed to be for 2015 inspiration and participation. I joined the Take me deeper group. Taking part in 52 weeks of bible study/journaling is exactly what I needed. And God knew. HE KNEW just as He always does what is best for me. Which is a mystery sometimes. I was trying to decide what to do for my journal cover. At least for 2 weeks trying to decide and nothing would come.

The inspiration on the site was the song
 OCEANS by hillsong

I would listen to the song and a big big ocean would always come to my mind, way bigger than me! What could little ole me do in a big big ocean. Try not to sink? Try to stay afloat? Would I give up?Well a lot of things in life weigh us down. My sickness last year weighed me down. What weighs us down Anchors!  We get so tied to things. So I did a little google search on Anchors and the navy song came up Anchors Aweigh! I was please to find out it is NOT anchors away... it is aweigh! Which just made perfect sense to me. So here is my journal cover.

I tried to make my anchor 3 fold 1. the anchor 2. the I in aweigh and 3. a cross.

Let the journey of 52 weeks begin. So as I go on this journey I will post my pages as I get them done. The only anchor I want to tie me down  ( or up rather) is HOPE. Hope anchors the soul firm and secure. Hebrews 6:19

Hostess Gift

A friend of mine sent me a picture from pintrest that interested her which I found led to this link http://www.thekimsixfix.com/2013/11/o-come-let-us-adore-him-rustic.html. She asked if I would make her one. Then I found out  we were going to have a Christmas party and she was going to be the hostess with the mostest  I might add. So  I recruited my hubby to put the wood together for me which we had just laying around from our neighbor redoing his fence and kindly giving me the leftovers. That is my dog maggie in the lower right hand corner. She said she likes it so far and gave me her grunt of approval.

I googled images of silhouette wise men and camel and make my own stencil and hand made the stencil for the star. Then hubby drilled the holes and glued in the lights. I gave it to her as the hostess gift for hostessing the party.

These are her pictures from day and night hanging above her fire place.

 THEN I WANTED ONE.

So I decided to make my own. I had a old piece that I had done a fall theme one year that was hiding in my craft room to remake because I didn't like the pumpkin which is why I have no before pictures LOL. But I painted it Dark blue and drilled some holes and stenciled away!
Then I got my theme going and put my nativity scene on the mantle. I just love how it turned out and  it will stay this way years to come I hope.. but with DIY projects you just never know.
What I think I love the most about it is the next line of the song is The stars are brightly shining.
Is it ever too late or too early to post Christmas stuff?

Hope you enJOY!

julie envy

Hello all, I saw this card a while ago that julie ebersole created and I just fell in love with the technique and the look http://ellenhutson.typepad.com/the_classroom_new/page/3/  you'll have to scroll down to October 6th to see the card she made. Here is my spin on it. I used the technique she did, but created some cards for a friend of mine for her birthday. She was saying that she didn't have time to make a card for her friend's birthday so I made her some!

I used Splash INK. It is a really fun product. I got it at a trade show a while ago and when I saw Julie's post  I knew I wanted to try it with splash ink. Here is the link if your interested http://www.yasutomo.com I have had in my stash for a while and thought I would give it a go. It comes with 4 colors Magenta, Yellow, Blue and black. It gives you color recipes. You squeeze drops onto a palette or mixing cup and make all kinds of colors. Well when I saw Julie's technique of using a baby wipe to create a palette, that is what I did. I had so much fun because each time you press your stamp into the ink it creates a new color palette because it is mixing with the water and each other. And they never become muddy! Which is what I love about it.

I then used her technique of cutting out a slice of the card, layering and popping up a section to make it stand out. And that is where I stamped the sentiment.

Then I made a cute little box to put them in, tied them up with  a ribbon which I did not get a picture of. Darn it. :( but it was a pretty yellow ribbon from flowers that my husband had sent me. I love it when I can reuse things and everything comes out hunky dory.

I would like to link up my card at http://seizethebirthday.blogspot.ca  and http://casology.blogspot.com

                                                          Well I hope you enJOY!
